Tony Allen

[1940 - 2020] Tony Allen was a Nigerian drummer and musical composer for Fela Kuti's band in the 60s and 70s and a pioneer of the Afrobeat genre.

He released numerous albums, both with Fela Kuti and as part of his own band. and as a member of The Good, the Bad & the Queen.

His last few album releases include the 2014 album "Film of Life", which also features Damon Albarn, plus "The Source", "A Tribute to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers" (both 2017), plus 2020's: "Rejoice" (featuring Hugh Masekela).
