Barrow boys Dead Monroe are a fresh faced and bushy eyed trio from old London Town. As of yet unsigned but hungry for a taste of the big time, new single 'Sweetheart' sees the bands highly addictive blend of good old rock'n'roll, blues and glam rock united with a twist of edgy punk-rock thrown in for good measure.
With the pulsing tempo of a high speed locomotive, a marriage of rhythmatic guitars and crashing drums help keep time to this punk-rock classic, transporting those who bare witness to its expressive nature back in time.
Dead Monroe's style of short, fast, hard music is distinctive, and thankfully by no means over powering or detrimental to the vocals of lead singer Justin. Like most punk-rock, aimed to be aggressively modern, distancing itself from the bombast and sentimentality of early 1970s rock, Dead Monroe's stripped-down instrumentation rallies against a non-political, non-nihilistic lyrical content.
There is something strangely appealing about the track 'Sweetheart', its like Slade meets the Sex Pistols, all of the grit but with none of the grime !
