The Remixes - White Lies EP Review

EP Review

This CD-only release came out on Record Store Day and, as such, is going to prove to be a devil to get hold of but, as they may say, the detail IS in the devil and this EP of rarities is pretty well worth seeking out.

3 of the 5 tracks here have been previously issued nowt wrong with that when you consider the choices: M83s atmospheric and sophomore take on Nothing To Give, Rory Phillips bouncy house mix of Farewell To The Fairground and the really bloody marvellous anthemic boom of Chase and Status rub of early single Death are certainly worthy of anyones attention, but I really start to feel the Ewan Pearson-style percussive-sparkles on the Mirrors retake of A Place To Hide. Yum yum. Nothing fancy but hypnotically yours suddenly White Lies start to make far more sense than when they are being normal.

Last track, Unfinished Business, remixed by Jorge of Violens is an altogether tamer affair and the least effective version on here. Right now, Im going back to tracks 3 and 4..... ooh yes.....
