John Lennon

[1940 - 1980] John Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, musician and latterly, peace activist who rose to fame as co-lead vocalist with the Beatles. The song-writing partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history.

Solo songs include: "Give Peace a Chance", "Instant Karma!", "Imagine", "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" and "Woman", among many others. He also collaborated with Elton John ("Whatever Gets You thru the Night") and David Bowie ("Fame").

He released his debut solo album, "John Lennon/ Plastic Ono Band" in 1970, followed by: "Imagine" (1971), "Mind Games" (1973), "Walls and Bridges" (1974), plus 1975's: "Rock 'n' Roll".
