Elbow

Elbow

Elbow are a multi award-winning Bury-based alt-rock band formed in 1997 and featuring Guy Garvey - lead vocals, guitar, lyrics, Mark Potter - guitar, backing vocals, Craig Potter - keyboards, organ, backing vocals, Pete Turner - bass and Richard Jupp - drums.

Their debut album "Asleep In The Back" appeared in 2001 and the 2008 album "The Seldom Seen Kid" garnered the Mercury Music Prize. Other acclaimed albums include: "The Take Off and Landing of Everything", "Little Fictions" (2017), plus 2019's: "Giants of All Sizes".

The song "One Day Like This", whilst not their biggest hit, has gone on to become a crossover signature tune of sorts.

As well as "Lippy Kids", "Forget Myself", "Grounds For Divorce", "Open Arms", "Newborn" and "Asleep in the Back", the band are notable for composing the 2012 Olympic theme-music, "First Steps".
