Platinum-selling Texas-based blues-rock/hard-rock band formed in 1969 and familiar for having trademark long beards.
Band members include Billy Gibbons - vocals and guitar, Frank Beard - drums/ percussion and Elwood Francis - bass.
Earlier work such as "Rio Grande Mud" and "Tres Hombres" fused traditional rock and roll with straight-edged American roots, before crossing into the mainstream market in the '80s with "Eliminator" (with "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Legs") and "Afterburner" (with "Velcro Fly" and "Rough Boy").
They released their debut album, "ZZ Top's First Album" in 1971, followed by: "Rio Grande Mud" (1972), "Tres Hombres" (1973), "Fandango!" (1975), "Tejas" (1976), "Degüello" (1979), "El Loco" (1981), "Eliminator" (1983), "Afterburner" (1985), "Recycler" (1990), "Antenna" (1994), "Rhythmeen" (1996), "XXX" (1999), "Mescalero" (2003), "La Futura" (2012), plus 2022's: "Raw", the soundtrack to their 2019 Netflix documentary, "That Little Ol' Band From Texas".
Founder member and bass player, Dusty Hill passed away in 2021.
