The Wedding Present

Leeds-based indie-rock band formed in 1985. Current lineup: David Gedge - Vocals and guitar, Charles Layton - drums, Danielle Wadey - guitar and Melanie Howard - bass.

They were originally part of the so-called indie-guitar scene "C86", with a debut album called "George Best" becoming a permanent fixture in the indie-charts and on John Peel's radio-show.

Other notable releases include albums "Bizarro" and 1991's "Sea Monsters" plus 12 singles released at monthly intervals in 1992, helping the band equal Elvis' record for most Top 40 hits in a year.

They released the album, "Watusi" in 1994, followed by "Saturnalia" (1996), "Take Fountain" (2005), "El Rey" (2008), "Valentina" (2012), 2016's: "Going, Going...", plus "Locked Down and Stripped Back" (volume one in 2021, volume two in 2022).

In 2022, the band announced their "24 Songs" project where the band would release two new singles per month for the whole of the year.
