Frank Sidebottom

Frank Sidebottom was the papier-mache-head-wearing alter ego of English comedian and musician Chris Sievey (who also performed light jangly indie-pop with The Freshies in the late 70s/early 80s).

He was a staple-diet of John Peel shows, student gigs (especially in the North of England) and delivered a subtle blend of innocent humour, surrealism and mild parody.

Classic songs (from a vast vault) included 'cover' versions and originals such as: "Anarchy In The Uk", "Every Breath You Take", "Panic (On The Streets Of Timperley)" and the EP "Frank Sidebottom Salutes The Magic Of Freddie Mercury & Queen & Also Kylie Minogue (You Know, Her Off Neighbours)".

Sievey died in June 2010 after contracting cancer.
