Massachusetts-based alternative rock band formed in the 80s.
Key members include: J Mascis - guitar and vocals, Lou Barlow - bass and Murph - drums.
The band were originally called Dinosaur and added the Jr. to avoid legal action from a band of the same name.
Along with Husker Du, they pioneered the SST-label sound with their intense feedback-drenched songs and Mascis' trademark vocal drawl.
They came to prominence with singles "Freak Scene", "Start Choppin" and a cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" and the albums "Green Mind", "Bug" and "I Bet On Sky".
They released their debut album, "Dinosaur" in 1985, followed by: "You're Living All Over Me" (1987), "Bug" (1988), "Green Mind" (1991), "Where You Been" (1993), "Without a Sound" (1994), "Hand It Over" (1997), "Beyond" (2007), "Farm" (2009), "I Bet on Sky" (2012), "Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not" (2016), plus 2021's: "Sweep It Into Space".
