The Magnetic Fields

The Magnetic Fields are an American avant-garde indie-pop band fronted by singer-songwriter Stephin Merritt, with Claudia Gonson - percussion and piano, Sam Davol - cello and flute and John Woo - banjo and guitar.

Merritt's other projects have included releases by The 6ths, The Gothic Arches, Future Bible Heroes and as a soloist.

They released their debut album, "Distant Plastic Trees" in 1991, followed by: "The Wayward Bus" (1992), "Holiday" (1994), "The Charm of the Highway Strip" (1994), "Get Lost" (1995), "69 Love Songs" (1999), "i" (2004), "Distortion" (2008), "Realism" (2010), "Love at the Bottom of the Sea" (2012), "50 Song Memoir" (2017), plus 2020's: "Quickies".

In 2025, the band celebrates the 25th anniversary of key album "69 Love Songs".
