Irving Berlin

[1888 - 1989] Late prolific Jewish American composer and lyricist, whose shows include Annie Get Your Gun, Miss Liberty and Call Me Madam. The archetypal Christmas song 'White Christmas' was written and composed by Berlin, as were Alexander's Ragtime Band, Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better), Blue Skies, Cheek to Cheek, Happy Holiday, Let's Face the Music and Dance, Let Yourself Go, Puttin' on the Ritz and What'll I Do? - to name but a few.

It is estimated that Irving Berlin wrote around 1,250 songs, 25 of which hit the top of the charts.
