Literary fairy tale derived from France and often converted into a pantomime production especially in the UK.

Originally known as 'Le Maistre Chat, Ou Le Chat Botte', it concerns a devious cat who uses trickery to get what he wants. The main cat character also makes a brief appearance in Tchaikovsky's 'Sleeping Beauty'.
