Musician, writer, songwriter, activist and producer from South Africa (later Scotland) who was infamous for fronting the Justified Ancients Of Mu-Mu and the KLF. Both acts racked up controversy and hits in equal measure, the former for sampling ABBA and getting legally threatened for it, the latter for burning 1 million quid, dumping a dead sheep outside the BRITS in '92 and firing blanks into the BRITS audience in the same year whilst performing the hit "3AM Eternal" (with Extreme Noise Terror).
As well as solo music, he was also a member of Big In Japan and founded the influential Liverpool-based Zoo label in the late 70s.
He has written the books "45", "The Manual (How To Have A Hit The Easy Way)" and "17".
He formed the experimental and improvisation choir The17 in 2009.
