Mike Pickering
Accrington-born house-music DJ, musician, and producer.
He was a principal DJ and key-player during the acid-house heyday of the Hacienda nightclub in the late 80s (he is often cited as the man who brought New York to Manchester) and worked as A&R at Factory for a time.
As a musician he founded Quando Quango and the successful chart-act M People.
He later resurrected Deconstruction Records and A&R-ed for Columbia Records.
