"4 Shocking Plays from the Legendary Parisian Theatre of Terror: Le Theatre du Grand-Guignol in Paris ran for 65 years from 1897-1962. Its history is fascinating, some of its plays even more so.
The evening will open with a chilling tale of a father's love for his daughter by André de Lorde and Eugéne More: 'The Ultimate Torture', set in the French Consulate in Beijing during the last few days of the Boxer Rebellion, followed by a truly disturbing tale of female desire 'The Voluptuous Atrocity', by Georges Neveux and Max Maurey, newly translated from French into English and making its British stage premiere! After the interval 'Tics, or Doing the Deed', by René Berton, a superb and seductively humorous Grand-Guignol sex farce, will provide the audience with some light relief before the pièce de résistance: Eliot Crawshay Williams' 'The Nutcracker Suite' (originally performed at the London Grand-Guignol)."
