Franz Kafka

Franz Kafka was a German-speaking novelist and short-story writer based in Prague when it was part of the Austro-Hungaria empire. An influential writer, his best-known works include: "The Metamorphosis", "The Trial", and "The Castle".

His writing gave birth to the term "Kafkaesque" denoting absurd situations which he depicted in his writing.
