His first work was as collaborator with the comedy-satire revue, Beyond The Fringe in the early 60's, before writing his most familiar works, "Talking Heads" (a series of monologues featuring "A Cream Cracker Under The Settee"), "The History Boys", "The Madness Of King George", "My Father Knew Lloyd George" and numerous radio-narrations of children's stories.
