John Cage

American experimental, classical and avant-garde composer, writer, theorist and artist (b 1912 - d 1992).

He is best known for works such as "4'33"" which concerns the 'performer' sitting at the piano without playing a single note for the entire duration, "Imaginary Landscape" (for two vari-speed turntables, frequency recordings, piano and cymbal), "Living Room Music" (for speech-quartet and percussion), various improvisation pieces involving cassette-players, a train, found objects, voices, shells and plants (!) and numerous piano works.
