The brainchild of Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, the flugtag event sees competitors attempt to fly homemade human-powered flying machines of limited size and weight.
The flying machines are usually launched off a pier about 30 feet high into the sea, lake or reservoir.
Most enter for fun and the flying machines rarely fly at all.
