The Madness of George III

"A 1991 fictionalised biographical play about King George III by Alan Bennett. It tells the latter half of the reign, his battle with mental illness and the inability of his court to handle his condition.

During his reign, George III fathered 15 children, founded the Royal Academy of Arts, Great Britain and Ireland became the United Kingdom and Britain lost its American colonies. In spite of all this, he is best-remembered today for his bouts of unbridled lunacy when it seemed that the future of the very monarchy was at stake."
