The 1975 are a Manchester-based atmospheric alt-rock outfit formed in 2002, featuring founder members, lead vocalist/ guitarist Matty Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel.
The band released their debut eponymous album in September 2013 which went platinum, topping the UK album charts upon its release, followed by: "I Like It When You Sleep for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It", which nominated for the 2016 Mercury Prize. The album "A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships" followed in 2018. Other releases include "Notes on a Conditional Form" (2020), plus 2022's: "Being Funny in a Foreign Language".
The band were nominated for the 2019 Mercury Music Prize and won the 2023 "Best alternative / rock" BRIT award.
