Sharon Shannon is an Irish musician who plays accordion, fiddle, whistle and melodeon in a variety of styles such as folk, cajun and european.
Her name became associated with Scottish rock band The Waterboys after appearing on the 1989 set , 'Room To Roam'. Shortly after she went solo with a self-titled debut album in 1991. Other releases include: "Out the Gap" (1994), "Each Little Thing" (1997), "The Diamond Mountain Sessions" (2000), "Libertango" (2003), "Tunes" (2005), "Renegade" (2007), "Saints & Scoundrels" (2009), "Upside down" (2009), "Flying Circus" (2012), "In Galway" (2015), plus 2017's: "Sacred Earth".
She has sessioned and recorded with countless musicians including Nigel kennedy, Christy Moore, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, Hothouse Flowers, Steve Earle and the late Kirsty MacColl.
She won a Meteor Award in Ireland for the track 'Galway Girl' co-recorded with Irish songwriter Mundy in 2007. It was the most downloaded song of that year and has become something of a signature tune.
